The Stables is a major conversion project in North Bristol. Located overlooking the downs, the Stables is a poorly converted C19 stabling block which once served the grade II listed Lodge adjacent to it. In the 70’s, the original stable block was partially demolished and rebuilt as a house with a rear balcony, concrete tiled roof and inappropriate garden extension.
The proposed repurposing of the dwelling, removes the 70’s extension and sympathetically adds a lead mansard roof to reorder the home and add additional family spaces.
The resulting building will be sensitively upgraded to reconnect with its Victorian history while not detracting from its setting or the listed Lodge.
