The HIVE is a new facades testing facility for the University of Bath. Located next to the Science Museum on Wroughton Airfield, this facility has been designed to accommodate hygrothermal, flood, blast and facade load testing. An undulating concrete roof captures a series of open sides ‘cells’ into which test equipment and facades are applied.
A double height space to the front has been designed to be used for a variety of different tests and can accommodate internal structures and floors. The concept has been developed in collaboration with the University of bath and Integral Structural Design and will provide a flexible building materials test facility
